12/20/2021 0 Comments December 20th, 2021Hello everyone and happy holidays once again. I know there is a lot of information out there on the covid vaccine. Some are true and a whole host of information is definitely false. So how do you figure out what is what. Well first you have to find a trustworthy source. Can you really trust your neighbor or family friend about the info’s they may forward you on social media? I think not. You have to have some faith in your PCP. After all , haven’t you already trusted them with other illnesses that you have or develop? There you go, trust thier judgement and information. They have your back.
As as you may already know, I am a big proponent of prevention. Why wait till you get sick to ask for help. It may be too late. Vaccinations have been around forever. Back in the day, I used to receive some of my vaccinations at school. They would announce a vaccination day and then all the students would line up and the nurse would use a hand held, multi dose vaccinator device which looked like a gun. It even sounded like a gun when it deployed the vaccine into your arm. Although it appeared scary nonetheless, everyone would put up a brave face especially in front of their friends. I am sure a lot of people remember things like that. So why are the same people running scared of this new vaccine? Is it because of social media and the support from the anti-vaccinators? I think so. It is sad really, how a small group of people who use fake videos can spread such utter nonsense. It is even sadder how many people believe it to be true. Weren’t they taught early on that everything you watch on the idiot box should be taken in with a grain of salt. In short, vaccines are safe and reliable. They have been that way forever. In fact, the disease for which vaccines are available are the real deadly ones. We will only find out later on how covid has truly affected the population. Problem, is we are not collecting the data on who got covid before they got the vaccine, in order for us to determine which one caused any of the sequlae that occurs in people. Stay safe y’all, until next time.

6/2/2020 0 Comments Covid- 19There is a lot of information out there on Covid-19. Here is what I have synthesized from my research. It is an RNA virus which seems to initially attack a host and the first thing it tries to do is replicate itself as fast as possible. During this phase it tries to stay hidden from the host's immune system. This is why a lot of people are asymptomatic initially. Somehow, the virus reaches a stage when it releases a large amount of particles into its host. This is when the host's immune system reacts and the individual starts feeling sick. For a lot of people the illness remains in the nasopharynx and presents as a lingering, hacking cough. But for a few the illness hits other parts of the body including the lung and that's when people develop difficulty breathing and end up on a ventilator.
I think it is important to treat patients early before it reaches this kind of severity. But how do you do that when you don't know if you have caught the virus? Simple, you have to do what you do with other viral infections. You wash your hands before you touch your face. You gargle with warm salt water regularly. You keep yourself hydrated and well rested so your body will be able to fight any infection. Finally, you protect other people from yourself by wearing a mask when you are going to be around people and you will be talking, laughing, singing etc. Visit your primary care provider for an annual physical and call them with any symptoms so they can guide you. Hopefully, you all stay safe and well. 6/11/2019 0 Comments HypertensionCommonly known as a silent killer because it is insidious and is only discovered when you get checked at a doctor's office. Although genetics play a role, it is more importantly linked to our diet. Excessive salt, alcohol or illicit drugs can lead to high blood pressure. Everything in moderation is a valid concept in this case. However, you have to be clear about what is moderation.
